The waves are particularly violent tonight. From Côteau-du-Lac to Blanc-Sablon, the St.Lawrence River battles against gusts that will leave no one unscathed. Seven corpses are spat on the shores of a territory as vast as it is disturbing. Seven unidentified bodies. Seven unclaimed bodies. In the bend of a walk, a jog or a kiss, Élodie, Rose, Dora, Charlotte, Martin, Lili, Mathilde, Manon and Anne will see these dead. This shock will allow them to make an act of life. Or an act of survival. In this theatrical picture, the undertow of voices confronts the intimate and fragile jewel that is each existence. While these hearts struggle with their own history, the river struggles with its own, the great one, the tremendous one, inscribed in the depths of its spray.
Rébecca Deraspe, author from Quebec, winner of the 2020 Michel-Tremblay prize for the best text brought to the stage, delves with nuances the scope of words as well as the unspoken frozen in time, next to Annick Lefebvre for the writing and Alexia Bürger for the staging, both hosted at La Colline in 2017 with the solo Les Barbelés.
