From Sidney Olcott to Wim Wenders, from Hugo Pratt to the scriptwriters of TV shows Nip/Tuck and The Mentalist, many authors have been inspired by the founding works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, amongst which The Scarlet Letter, published in 1850. His works are also a source of inspiration to Spanish artist, stage director, author and performer Angelica Liddell. Her entire work, from The House of Strength to The Trilogy of the Infinite, reflects her inner sufferings in echo to the violence of the world. 

While in the past it was Religion which censored and rejected, today it is the empire of Reason which dominates our society’s puritan thinking.
