overview
In Scissors, paper, rock, a dramatic poem by the Australian playwright Daniel Keene, reality is directly tackled and yet nothing in it is ordinary. Kevin, an unemployed stone cutter, his wife, his daughter, his dog and his friend have faces that are as familiar and enigmatic as those of the statues at cathedrals’ porches. Keene opens these figures drawn like low reliefs and unfolds them against a backdrop of universal obscurity.
